It's been over a week without updating... must be a record, but now I have at least some new stories. After the regular school week, we decided to leave Bali last saturday and head to Nusa Lembongan with Tero, Mirva and Eetu. Nusa Lembongan is a tiny island about 30 minutes away from Bali to the east. Like everything else around Bali, it is also a tourist site and there's a couple of surf breaks also (which I think you guessed already). Eetu had already bargained a good price for the speed boat and the trip there went pretty fast and easily. At Lembongan we needed to find an accommodation and after some searching we found a nice place from the beach with pool area and AC in the rooms. Quite a luxurious place for a sea-water salted surf bum like me, but I think it's quite good once in a while to have an own bed, bathroom or AC.
First full day started at 6am, when Tero and I went to surf at Playgrounds surf break. Nice little shoulder-high waves were rollin' and a great way to start your day. After the surf and breakfast, we drove around Lembongan with scooters. Quite nice little beaches everywhere like Mushroom beach or Dream beach and most of all the water there is way more cleaner than in Bali. Next to Lembongan there is also a tinier island named Nusa Ceningan. There is a bridge between these two islands, but it was rusted and broken thus we couldn't drive through with the scooters. But no worries... when we walked over the bridge, the locals were more than happy to rent scooters to us with "good" price of course. After some serious bargaining in Bahasa, we got a decent price and headed to the south point of Ceningan island. At the south of Ceningan there were few guest houses in a very nice locations, but mostly those places were empty. Also the surf break of Ceningan point was not crowded, only two surfers with the 5-star lefthander waves... and we left our decks at home. The pictures can tell more accurately how nice place Ceningan was, so I don't even try to put it in words.
Next day after 6am surfing at Playgrounds, we were pretty anxious with Tero to surf that Ceningan point uncrowded break, so we took a boat to take us out there. When we arrived there, the break was empty and we jumped immediately to the water with Tero, while Mirva stayed at the boat sun bathing and enjoying the company of the captain. Just to make it clear, it was 5-star lefthander waves rollin' and we were the only surfers there (after one hour there was couple surfers, but who cares!) ... This mini-search of perfect waves and places had made some serious results and it was time to enjoy it. A memory, which will last forever and to share it with Tero made it more priceless.
Last half a day at Lembongan we took a boat again, but Tero and Mirva went to snorkeling and I went to surf at Ceningan point. This time it wasn't that good surf experience and I only broke my surfboard's tail, so not so good ending for the trip but luckily it wasn't that expensive ding to my board. After some delaying returning to Bali, I went to say goodbyes (with Bintangs of course) to my dear friends Arto and Mari, who left today towards Finland via couple days at Singapore. Tomorrow we have an excursion to the biggest Temple in Bali and I get to wear the traditional outfit again. It will be the first time I visit a temple here, but I've been busy with surfing so that is quite good explanation right?. Now my board is in repair shop and my other board is at my brother, so this temple trip fit perfectly to my schedule. Peace Out!
