After breezing through El Questro we realised that our Gibb River Road adventure had come to an end but not without Tristan managing to get a photo hugging our best mate Larry. A job well done with no complaints.
Arriving in Wyndham (WA's highest town) we didn't really know what to expect. A small quaint town which probably had a lot going for it in its hay day. A large working port, abattoir and exports, all of which had a now ceased to exist…it was more of a ghost town. The caravan park had good reviews so we gave it a go. Upon check-in, they recommended to go and have a look at the 'Five Rivers lookout' at sunset. As always Larry was rearing and ready to go. He climbed and climbed…5km of windy roads and hills! The view from the top was just amazing, such a massive expanse of water, it was very special!
On our drive through town we popped into one of the only shops still open The Bottle-O…but also a little Bric' a 'Brac shop just near the old port. This little old lady ran it, anything from second hand goods to artworks. She was a bit of character. One thing Tristan still talks about is when she asked in these exact words, "So…what do ya do for crust"? "Oh, we're teachers" "Half ya luck".
Wyndham, full of very interesting encounters.
