Well we didn't know what to expect from Port Hedland! We found some cheap accommodation shacked up with the Miners and a couple of Port Hedland's finest… But $20 per night with free washing machines, Tara was in heaven. Not to mention the massive Iron ore trains to one side and the airport to the other made Tristan happy and made for a noisy stay! Let's face it cheap is cheap.
We did explore the town a fair bit watching one of the massive….and we mean massive Iron Ore ships come in through the tiny channel. It was pretty impressive. A delicate operation which seemed to never stop. The old courthouse gallery showcased some of the areas art and salt mine was added to ever constant flow of outgoing cargo.
Port Hedland-the town that never stopped!
