After a brisk pack up at Big Valley (Margaret River) to beat the rain… well it wasn't so brisk, after two and a half weeks of no set up or pack down…it was a bit of a disaster! BUT we did beat the rain…(sort of!)
On the road again after a quick goodbye and a cuddle with red dog we were off… Perth bound… the big smoke, or the little big smoke as a lot of the others called it. After a quick stop off at Busselton- Tara had to pick up her 2 cases of bubbles from Dan Murphy's (She's the click and collect queen… $ 5.45/bottle was a bargain!).
As we drew closer to the city the traffic grew stronger… 'Traffic', what the hell is that? So as we traipsed through the city streets we finally found our home for the next week. We were staying with Tara's aunty-Mary. After a quick call, Judy found her accommodation in a secure storage unit… we felt so bad leaving her, but at least she was safe!!!!!
The next few days consisted of some housekeeping… Airing Judy's canvas from the rain and potential threat of mould and looking for a new mattress as her original ones were giving our sciatic nerves a rather good work out.
We met up in Fremantle with our newly found friends Kate and Greg from Margaret River. A tour and tasting at the famous Little Creatures Brewery. Tara wasn't keen on all the beers and didn't want it to go to waste… Let's just say that Tristan was feeling pretty good after the tasting. After a bite for lunch and a bit more of a catch up with Kate and Greg, it was time for our very first Uber drive home… Bloody Awesome, half the price of a cab and the car was a brand new Audi 4WD. Larry was a little Jealous when the Uber driver pulled up in the driveway but he soon realised Tristan was in no fit state to drive him, and after Tara's efforts of trying go from 5th to reverse at 100km/hour (Whooooops!) he definitely didn't want her to try.
A day exploring Perth City and surrounds we now know that we are way to comfortable with the rural outback vibe of Australia. That night we were treated to an engagement gift like no other, thanks to our dear friends Brendan and Shelley… a 3 course dinner at Perth's C restaurant, the only revolving restaurant in WA. A real treat! Thanks guys- we felt so spoilt all night! Tara even tried her first oyster!!
Rotto… no we didn't get 'Blotto on Rotto' or Rottnest Island to non-WA folk. But, it was a very scenic ride around the island. We even got to meet a few of the friendly little quokka's who didn't mind wandering up for a pat and a cuddle… very cute. Overall a pretty relaxed day.
The next day it was exciting for both of us! Ronn, Tara's dad was coming over. So off to the airport it was. The reunion was pretty special for Tara as she hasn't seen her dad since we left over two months ago and she was so excited to show him her engagement ring (he was the first person she called when we got engaged!) After lunch we took him down too Little Creatures for a cheeky beer, but we dare not tell Sandy (Tara's mum)!! We were also surprised with a Wedding planner from our special friends 'The Moores' who sent the special treat over with Ronn! Time to start planning!
The next day it was time to head off. After breakfast in Freo with Ronn, it was time to say goodbye to everyone and go pick up Judy.
As we were pulling out of the storage facility we had a sudden realisation… It was the long weekend in WA… Jurien Bay was totally booked out… b*****! Luckily we secured one of the last spots in Cervantes-20km's south of Jurien Bay…
Thanks Perth- it was a pleasure-even if we were a little city shy! x
