We had been told, we had seen photos, we had heard people talking… but nothing would prepare us for Lake Argyle… and the infinity pool.
The most relaxing place in the middle of nowhere, nothing but a lake that feeds the Ord River Irrigation scheme. But its sheer size is just amazing. After speaking to a lot of people, we decided we needed to do the cruise on the lake to get a better understanding of just how massive it is.
After getting picked up by 'Kiwi Josh' our guide for the afternoon, the cruise took us around a relatively small part of the lake, (which proved the sheer size of the lake) … Considering we were on a pretty fast boat and on the water for 4 hours. After a very informative tour of the surrounds, how the lake was formed and the history behind the makings of it, it was time for a swim. It was optional to jump off the roof and try and catch a beer. But Tristan was up for the challenge… he failed dismally at the first attempt, as did everyone else. But nailed it the second time. Too bad they were only serving Great Northern Beer. A barmy 23 degrees, the water was beautiful and the sunset was even more stunning.
The Infinity Pool overlooked the lake and the beautiful mountain range. Was the perfect scene for a photo or 400!
Lake Argyle- truly stunning.
