21/9/17 Day out with our Hosts Having a drink with our hosts they told us they were with a friend heading out for a day to try and walk up a dry river bed and gorge as far as they could and then take their jeep high up dirt tracks of Mountain range Psiloritis. Having visited Preveli on our previous visits to Crete we wanted to get there nice and early so we could see the small palm beach without hordes of people. Our hosts told us of a short cut to park to the east of the beach near Limni Preveli and a short coast walk to the main beach. The track they tell us is fine and with our 4x4 no problem. We are up early, as always, well I am, hot flushes see to that. I watch the sunrise from our balcony. We walk into the village and have a mooch then back to the pool with our fresh bread and eggs for breakfast the next day. As said it is built in terraces into the hill side. Today we leave Makrygialos and head for Agia Galini staying at Galini Breeze. On route we stop off at Myrtos for refreshment. Agia Galini is a coastal village which is built up into the hills all boasting fabulous views of the coast. We chose Galini Breeze one of the highest just outside of the village but within walking distance all be it a very steep climb down and back up! Early birds as we are at 9am we are taking a walk & swim on the beach in Makrygialos, so peaceful, just us! We then go back to the apartment for breakfast and take a short drive to one of the local coves. Lots of snorkelling as lots of rocks and inlets under the water. Russ always comes in with me first so I get to know the under-water landscape then I am in their more than on the beach watching and searching for the sea life. We go back to the Sunset ...
