Our journey to Te Anau was fairly long and we went through wind, rain, snow and eventually sunshine!!
The first half of the trip was terrible weather so we didn't get much chance to stop off until we was nearer the west coast.
When we arrived in Te Anau Aiden upgraded us to some gorgeous accomodation called Lakefront Lodges. They were really nice and the staff were really helpful and we had a spa bath :-) The weather was nice and sunny now so the day was looking up!
We didn't need much food for dinner as we still had everything we needed for fajitas, but we still walked to the shops and to the tourist information place to look at cruises for Milford Sound which we had planned to do the following day.
The walk into town was pleasant, we had figured out what cruise we wanted to do and so we decided to spend the rest of our time having a few chilled drinks at one of the local pubs. The rugby was also on so we stayed for quite a few before walking back and cooking dinner.
Back in our room I cooked dinner whilst Aiden sorted out some laundry and re-charged all our things, cameras etc! We sat down and had our fajitas which were pretty awesome and I also told Aiden he had to try them with baked beans in....and he liked them!! see mum it's not so weird after all haha!!
After dinner we chilled out, had a few drinks, Aiden took a bath whilst I watched a film before heading to bed ready for a full day at Milford sound tomorrow!
The next morning we packed all our nicely cleaned clothes and set off on a gorgeous journey into Fiordland...
The drive was beautiful!! We drove along an alpine road through rainforest, glacier carved valleys, scary avalanche zones, and awesome snow capped mountains! I'm pleased we drove this ourself and didn't do a coach trip because the freedom of stopping where you like is awesome :-)
When we arrived we checked into the only campsite there then headed to the harbour to take our cruise.
We boarded our cruise and headed off through stunning scenery, mountains, waterfalls etc
Aiden was a tad grumpy today-bless him :-) so I suggested buying a beer onboard and he soon cheered up! Think the old sausage was a tad sleepy from all his driving!! but I did offer!! We both loved the views and we was lucky enough to see seals and two adorable penguins :-)
After the cruise we went back to our campsite, there's not a great deal to do in this area, Aiden took a nap and I just chilled out. When Aiden woke up we decided we didn't want to stay at Milford, as gorgeous as it was we were both quite bored! So we decided to drive back to Te Anau and make a few stops offs along the way including a peaceful stop at the Mirror Lakes.
Back in Te Anau we were both much happier! We checked into a holiday park and then decided to go out for dinner and drinks at the pub we visited yesterday. We phoned the pub and they came and picked us up and also said they would drop us off after our meal! Very nice seen as it was quite a long walk!! We had chicken wings to share and then both had a sunday roast!! It was really yum!! and a really nice end to a long but great day :-)
Tomorrow we were heading for Queenstown :-)

Aiden Snow was a shock but we had good weather everyday when we needed it so cant complain. Te-Anau was a pretty cool place to stay, enjoyed the luxury of the lodge and was a pretty chilled out place. Amazing drive to Milford sound, you could see the power of the weather and avalanches trees where ripped to bits, fortunately for us it was the 2nd day of spring you didn't have to carry snow chains, the weather was amazing and all the roads clear. Milford sound was amazing although yes i was grumpy, that long drive caught up with me, was quite amusing though and Sarah soon made me smile as always :-)
