WELLY WELLY WELLY!
We arrived in Wellington on a rather cold day! The roads and pavements were white from hailstone/sleet so we decided to chill out around the hostel for the rest of the afternoon, apart from the quick walk out to find a supermarket.
In the evening we took advantage of the hostels free dinner which was actually quite nice, and then we hit the bar. Me, Hannah and Claire had shared a bottle of wine with dinner and then me and Hannah ordered another one to share. The night turned fairly messy, at midnight we celebrated Claire's 21st and ordered her some shots and then at some point me and Hannah went up and decorated our dorm with balloons and banners (I think we also ate about three cheese and crisp sandwiches before heading back down!)
The next day was Claire's birthday and it was an amazing day! We bought birthday cake and all met and went to the harbour where we chilled before heading to the cable car and having a picnic up at the botanical gardens, complete with birthday hats and cake with candles! We stayed and relaxed there for a while and then headed to a bar for drinks and back to the hostel via the supermarket for wine which we drank in the room before heading to the bar. We had the odd drink in the bar and then went out to a local Thai restaurant for dinner which was really nice. After dinner it all went down hill...I think we went back to the hostel bar where we had stupid amounts of jager bombs, numerous snakebites and then headed into town...not sure where, I remember sat outside, I remember Hannah laid on some guys back and I also remember hitting McDonalds on the way home...the rest is a bit of a blur!! I think it was a pretty good night though!
Our last day in Wellington was spent slightly hung-over, but we all headed to a huge museum which was cool but not the best plan when we felt like we did. We spent about an hour there before checking out cinema times and deciding to go there instead. We made it back to the hostel after the cinema just in time for another free dinner...pasta which was yum once again! We had a fairly relaxed night, chilled out and had to be up and ready for 7am the next day to re-join the kiwi bus and head to the Inter-islander ferry terminal
Next Stop...South Island!
