After Franz Josef we hadn't really planned a route but we woke up, had dippy eggs for breakfast and set off on the road.
We headed up the west coast to Greymouth where we thought we might stay but it was a pretty dull day and well it didn't look all that great when we got there so we took a look at the map and decided because it was a rather crap day, we would head over and make the long journey to Hanmer Springs...so pleased we made that decision!
We got there after driving through National Parks, and the weather had improved a lot! We didn't arrive until early evening but that didn't matter so much. We settled into a campsite, showered and decided to head out for dinner and also watch the England game.
We walked to a local pub and the food was gorgeous! and we even found room and shared chocolate brownie! fatties! it was yum though! The rugby was close against Scotland, we played pretty crap as usual! We enjoyed a few ciders, watched the end of the game and headed back to camp.
The following day was our last full day together, but it was cool! In the morning we hired mountain bikes and headed into the forest which was gorgeous! We made a picnic and did a few trails before heading back into town mid afternoon.
We (well Aiden again) decided it would be nice to upgrade and not stay in the camper so that's what we did! It was nice to be able to chill out, wash all our stuff and etc. So after biking we got some supplies for dinner and checked in before heading over to the hot springs.
The hot springs were cool, it's quite a large complex and they also have water slides etc so we were big kids for the afternoon and also relaxed!
In the evening we sorted out all our things, I cooked stir-fry and then we chilled out and watched some of the rugby games.
Unfortunately we had to be up the next day and drive to Christchurch for Aiden's flight home :-( not excited for that at all!!!
