After a lengthy train trip and several changes we made it to Windermere in the Lake District. We were expecting a small town and were worried about food supplies. As it turns out this a big town with another largish town on the Lake itself. So we won't go hungry. There are tourists galore. Tomorrow we are hiring bikes to explore the lake and maybe leave the crowds behind. Our accommodation is adequate for our needs. Bearing in mind houses in the UK are in general small. At the train station the man in front of me was retrieving his backpack he had left on the train the day before. A bit like déjà vu. Gavin's was firmly attached to his back for the journey. The trains here are incredibly busy. We have now booked seats on our remaining journeys to ensure a seat. And cycling to the train station is very popular with hundreds of bikes on the platform at Birmingham. The British encourage cycling and bikes and are accommodated in most places. Cycle lanes are the norm and in general motorists are very patient with cyclists and pedestrians. Another fine day in England. Gavin is going to the doctors to get his ears syringed out tomorrow as he cant hear out of his left ear and is deaf in his right.
