We climbed Ben Lomand today which is over 3195ft. The walk up was similar to Bluff Knoll but the descent was longer. (Circular route). Any mountain over 3000ft is called a Munro. Named after the first surveyor of Scotland. Between 2500 and 2999ft they are called Corbetts. Ben = mountain. Loch = lake. We got the start of the walk by ferry and returned the same way. On the way over we got a free coffee/tea and on the way back a wine/beer. Gavin had a stubby of beer which was quite small and sent me to get my free beer. Oh dear. They had run out so I was able to get a cider for myself. Twice the size of his beer! And I had to drink it quickly because it was a short ferry trip. I may not be in a fit state to cook dinner tonight! We saw one lone deer on the walk up. We were hoping for more. Lots of sheep but thankfully no cattle today although there are usually lots. The midges were shocking. We smothered ourselves in DEET which helped. We we were told they were bad at the summit and on the track down but thankfully that turned out to not be the case. Probably because the wind blew up a bit and kept them away. We took sandwiches and biscuits and cheese to eat at the summit. On the way back to the ferry we passed a silver monument which points to Ben Vorlich and Loch Lomand.
