After Tintagel we drove to Taunton to drop off the hire car and to catch the train to Bath. This was a fast train (110mph) terminating, with a few limited stops, in Edinburgh. And so it was that Gavin's backpack (and wallet and other assorted items) went speeding off on its own to Scotland on its own adventure. With a lot of luck (not mentioning stress) I was able to find my way to someone who rang ahead to the next stop which was only 10 minutes away in time for them to find the wayward backpack and remove it from the train. Particularly fortunate as it was an 8 carriage train and we had no idea where we were on the train!! I made a quick dash up and back on the next train while the others looked after the luggage, and we were able to resume our journey.
