We started the day by hiring mountain bikes from a local hire shop. They were hard tails but good bikes regardless. We headed down to the health centre where Gavin was going to get his ears syringed out. That took about 3/4 hour but at least he can now hear again. After that we made our way down to the lake where we caught the ferry across to the other side. There was a bike track around the lake which passed a few churches and a castle. It was a lovely spit to ride although a bit hilly in places. As in other parts of England, the tracks pass through farms so it's nothing unusual to be riding through fields (paddocks) of cows or sheep. It rained just after we arrived at Wray Castle which was lucky as it gave us a place to shelter. The castle is small compared to others that we have seen. We continued on our ride and caught the ferry back to the other side for an ice cream before returning the bikes to the shop. After a cuppa we decided to follow a walk trail up to the highest view point of Windermere. It was a lovely walk although when we reached the summit it started thundering and we could see a storm not far away. We took quite a few photos before taking a longer route back to our accommodation. Time to put our feet up and have dinner and a shower! Tomorrow we catch the train to Glasgow.
