After a lengthy train trip and several changes we made it to Windermere in the Lake District. We were expecting a small town and were worried about food supplies. As it turns out this a big town with another largish town on the Lake itself. So we won't go hungry. There are tourists galore. Today we hiked up into hills above Bath where the view of the city is amazing. The streets are very organised. We watched some canal boats traveling between locks which involved the opening and closing of lock gates to either keep the water in or release it to get the desired water level. After Tintagel we drove to Taunton to drop off the hire car and to catch the train to Bath. This was a fast train (110mph) terminating, with a few limited stops, in Edinburgh. And so it was that Gavin's backpack (and wallet and other assorted items) went speeding off on its own to Scotland on its own adventure. Tintagel is a town in Cornwall with very tenuous links to King Arthur and the legend of the round table. But it keeps tourists flocking in, and the ruins are interesting even if they aren't related to King Arthur.

Port Isaac is the town in Cornwall where Doc Martin is filmed. It has amazing narrow lanes and interesting little buildings. It was impossible to identify which houses were used in the show as the town is actually quite large. The port itself was much the same.
