Day 130, 11 November 2012, Remembrance Day in London and poppies everywhere - After a hard fought 7 day battle to see and experience everything London has to offer, today was our final day in the city. It was buses replacing trains again for half the trip so we trundled into London at a fraction of the usual light speed and made our way to Knightsbridge. Much like Mayfair yesterday, it is a suburb that beats Sydney in the real estate stakes. But so gorgeous and leafy and the blue sky and sunshine certainly didn't hurt. The Christmas windows at Harrods were gorgeous. Based on jewellery and dresses for all the Disney princesses, there were scenes from Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Rapunzel just to name a few. We explored the utter opulence and luxury that is Harrods and then travelled all the way up 5 levels on the Egyptian escalator (and down again) listening to an opera soloist singing famous arias. Sponsored by Mastercard... priceless London moments indeed. After lunch on a park bench, forcibly fighting off a very pushing pidgeon that alighted on James's knee, we headed into the V&A museum. Wow. The lobby alone with an amazing modern glass sculpture, lived up to our expectations. Then we headed to the jewellery gallery. Some astounding pieces with diamonds glittering from the history books of the world were on display. Not quite the crown jewels.... but close and absolutely free to go and dream about... Speaking of dreams. Had an absolutely surreal moment when we were waiting for a light and 2 Ferraris and a Maclaren pulled up to the red. Now we know what it's like to have £1 million odd drive past us! Rest day tomorrow.... Missing London already.
