Barden's Great Aussie Adventure 2015
The boys were great today, especially Zach. We went on two
bushwalks and Zach walked the whole way and did not complain once. He was
having a great time and was proud to be the leader. He did a really good job of
stepping over all the stones to cross the creeks and climb over big boulders
because they were all very uneven. We first went to Warrumba Bluff after
reading another blog that we should take a right at the fork. It was awesome
and even more so because it was totally unexpected. At the end of the track we
came to a big chasm. It narrowed down and we had to continue crossing over the
stones in the creek.
From here Liam started whinging because he got tired so it
was time to put him in the hiking carrier and from past experience knew it
wasn't going to go too well. Matt carried him for a couple of minutes before
his screaming got too much and I took over. He cried for at least another 5
minutes before starting to calm down whilst we walked towards Mickey’s Creek. We
went as far as we could and I’m not sure
if it got any better but as far as we could go it just looked like everything
else we saw along the way that being a nice looking creek. So we headed back to
the car and Liam fell asleep. YAY! To avoid waking him to go back to camp I
decided to walk back down the road to the next walk I was planning on doing at
Baloon Cave. This walk had a lot of manmade structures like bridges and
platforms leading to a small piece of Aboriginal Artwork. Zach also did this
walk without a complaint so a total of 4.5km for someone who isn’t used to that
was impressive.
This had been a great day until we got back to camp and Matt
decided to work on the car. After advice from a fellow traveller he decided to
remove the bash plate and spotties to improve airflow to the radiator. This was
all good until the very end when Matt slipped and punctured the air
conditioning condenser. So we now have no air con and Matt was ******. The
afternoon was a mix of stress and good times with the kids being tired and
having grumpy moments and Liam has started screaming which is driving Matt
crazy. The boys played with the Rutlands family again, followed by toasting
marshmallows and exploring a beautiful spot here the call "the beach" There
were about 10 kangaroos here and the boys had a play in the sand.
