I got up today without a problem. I was surprised since I went out the night before really late. It was the usual routine again. We got to our project really late today, though. Class had already started when I got there. Today, we were learning about the map of Peru and we were going to glue papier mache on it. I asked Margoth if it would be also good to show them where Peru is on a world map, and she said that I can do that tomorrow.
Today was a day for discipline. I felt that I had to constantly separate Ronal and Ruth Kelly because they kep on hittin each other. I think it was because Ronal liked Ruth Kelly, but he was hitting her in such a hard way. I asked Margoth why he was like that, and she said that he is probably hit and abused at home and it is the only way for him to express himself. I kind of realized that, because he striked me as a kid that was looking for love and affection. He would constantly be coming to me (and only me) for hugs...
During recess, Santos constantly wanted me to spin him around. As soon as I did it for him though, other children wanted the same treatment. I played with Ruth Kelly a lot today, too. She is such a cutie! She was constantly cuddling around me. She also liked me close to me for protection from Ronal.
After recess, we were learning about the number five. I was busy writing the homework for the kids while Margoth teached. We had to leave early though today, because we were going for more cuy today, and I had my tandem at 3pm.
We went to the same place as Friday. This time, we were going to have cuy al horno, which is basically baked instead of fried. We were told that it has a different taste than fried cuy (and it was better tasting). I was really hungry when we recieved our plates. There was this big ball that was served with the cuy that was stuffed with potatoes and what looked to be meat. I immediately took a bite, and it tasted really good...until I was told that the ball was intestine skin stuffed with potatoes and more guiney pig intestine...yummy!
The cuy was actually really good. I kept the paw as a souvenir and used it to scare people all day. It was getting closer to 3pm so I decided to leave while Caitlin stayed with Kacy and Margoth. As I sat in the bus, I could not help but think how I loved this way of life. I could get used to living here. What was amazing was that music was so important in this city, even the public buses played music!
When I got to Maximo Nivel, my tandem was not there. I saw Daniel and Dillman when I got there, and we decided to go out tonight, again (since it was my last week). I was also meeting with Hassan and Danny, and we were going to go inquire about Machu Picchu. I already knew what company I wanted to go with (because Alex had recommended me the company). The name of the company was called Qorianka. The trek was going to cost us 150$ (cheaper than the 400$ that Eric paid for...)
When I got back home for supper, I was able to convince Tyler to come out with us. He was feeling really sick for the past week, and could never really come out (which was unfortunate because he really brings a lot of energy to a group. Caitlin and Kelly were also coming and we were meeting Daniel, Jose and Dillman at a place called Norton's, then to the Muse. I really liked the Muse because of its ambiance, but also because they made really good smoothies.
When we were at the Muse, Tyler and I saw a game of chess. He chalenged me to a game of chess and said that the loser pays for the other person's drink...I agreed thinking to myself: I played in chess tournaments and won, so this would be easy. However, little did I know that he was ranked 28th in USA in his division. I found out really fast that he was a competitor that I could not beat. He won, and I paid for his chocolate smoothie...a real embarassment, espicially in front of the girls!
The girls wanted to go dancing so we went to...guess?...Mythology! Tyler was feeling sick again so he decided to go back home. Dillman and Jose left an hour later leaving me, Caitlin, Kelly and Daniel. I danced almost all night with Kelly (she is a really good dancer) while Daniel danced with Caitlin. We left at 2am...Caitlin decided that she would skip her volunteering, I said that I would too...but I was probably going to end up going. She did not know that, though...
