Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
It's actually the day after we visited the Louvre but we have been very busy. We checked the weather before we left and it said there was a 2% chance of rain. We left the rain jackets and umbrellas in the cabin - bad choice. The 2% hit us just as we were getting off the shuttle bus into Paris. The Louvre is about a half hour walk from the shuttle bus stop, so our 1st stop was to buy an umbrella. With the cheap umbrella keeping us dry, we made it to the Louvre. The line was huge but fortunately we had purchased tickets ahead of time and were able to skip the line. As expected, it was very busy but we had a great time in the amazing place. We rented the audio guide and it had a pre programmed tour to take us past the major masterpieces. We saw the Venus de Milo, the Winged Victory of Samothrace and, of course, the Mona Lisa. After a couple of hours we were tired and suffering from artistic overload. Lunch sounded good, so we found a sidewalk cafe to have some soup, fries and a glass of wine. We walked to the huge opera house before heading back to catch the shuttle back to the ship.
