Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
After a scenic cruise back up the Seine this morning, we docked in Les Andelys around noon. Most of us had never heard of it. It is a very small town with only one major street that runs only a few blocks. It's primary claim to fame is an old castle called the Chateau Gaillard. It was built by Ric*************heart in the late 1100's to defend Normandy from the French King. It is mostly ruins now but worth a visit. We climbed up a long and very steep hill to get to the Chateau. The views from there were beautiful. We then walked around the little town for a while. It was a nice warm afternoon so we spent the rest of it relaxing on deck watching the river flow by.
