Wayne's & Bonnie's Travels
This morning we went on the included Viking tour of the historic LeMarais district. It was not the typical large bus tour with brief stops but was a 2 hour walking tour full of history. Very enjoyable. They would have brought us back to the hotel but we and another couple decided to stay downtown since it was just too nice a day. The other couple was going to meet friends for lunch. We took an hour and a half walk past Notre Dame, the Louvre and along the Seine before arriving back at the hotel. Amazingly enough the husband Dan and I worked in the same organization at the IRS in the early 1990's.
We had just enough time to freshen up before heading back out to pick up our picnic lunch. There is a company here that we found thru Trip Advisor that delivers picnic lunches. We ordered one yesterday and had it delivered to the large park across the river from the Eiffel tower. We ate it there in the park with a view of the tower. It was delicious and there was so much, bread, salad, cheese, cold cuts, wine and cookies we actually had to throw some of it away.
We finished lunch around 4:30 and went back to the hotel. We only had a little while before heading out for our evening Fat Tire Tours bike ride through Paris at 6:30. The bike ride was so much fun. We were a group of 16 riding on main streets, side streets, and sometimes bike paths. It lasted about 4 hours, an hour of which was a boat ride (with wine) on the Seine. We started near the Eiffel tower, rode to Notre Dame, went around it for a while and then rode over to the Louvre. The boat ride was next and then riding back to the bike office near our hotel. It's now almost midnight and we're heading to bed.
