This morning we actually got up before the roosters!! I was showered and dressed before they started crowing!!
We were off to see the ruins of Palenque today. This had a whole new meaning, as the play we saw the other night in San cristobal is based on what they found here in Palenque!! The stone carvings are absolutely amazing!! They are so clear!! The temples and the tombs here were equally amazing as well!!
We had a great guide who told us all about this amazing place and the people who used to live here.
Once we had seen the ruins, we then went on a guided forest walk through more ruins that are yet to be unveiled!! It was so interesting to see how much work has gone into making the temples what they are today, when you see where they started from!! The ruins we saw today was only 3% of the entire civilisation, the other 97% is yet to be unveiled! Crazy to think... What lies below!
Anyway, we made it safely back to town!! Had a quick bite for lunch and now just chilling!! There isn't much to do in this town, apart from the ruins!
