Today was a free day to enjoy the marvels of Antigua!! The aim was to have a sleep in... The first one of this tour....however that didn't quite go to plan! After the roosters started cockadoodling at 5.30, closely followed by the church bells continuously ringing for 5 minutes...my dreams of a sleep in were shattered!!! This morning we caught a ferry back to the mainland, in preparation for our 6hr bus trip to Antigua Guatemala! We had our own private minivan, so it was comfort all the way!! It was amazing to see how the landscape changed over the journey! At times it reminded me of Mexico with how dry some areas looked!! We drove past a couple of rock falls... So I was just hoping that our minivan wouldn't be caved in by some freak rock fall.... Luckily enough we got through...

This morning we moved location again! We caught a private bus from Flores to a boat jetty (which was about 2.5hrs). Along the way, we saw a lot of lonesome cowboys riding their horses along the road, but disappointedly not as many pigs as what we saw yesterday! We got to the boat and hauled our luggage into the boat!! I'm surprised we didn't sink the boat, considering my bag is not the heaviest bag on this trip surprisingly, then multiply that by 11 people!! W...

Well we beat the roosters up this morning again! We left our hotel at 6am for our mad dash across the border!! Today we had the luxury of a private minivan, so no chicken bus for us today!! So we crossed the border into Guatemala, no problems. Funny to see how lapse the security is on the border, I swear I saw a dog and a chicken cross the border illegally!!
