Day 43 Mavora to Te Anau 64km
Rain all night, tent sodden. At 8am we decided it wasn't going to stop so packed up and set off in full raingear. Within 30 minutes it had stopped and within an hour it was sunny. After stripping off we headed towards Te Anau. Holly, we broke one of your rules! We fell off!!! Very gently and without injury after skidding on loose gravel. Back onto tarmac we rolled into town at midday, lunched and dithered for a couple of hours and then decided to stick with plan A. We had booked a night in Bob and Maxines backpackers but were tempted to camp instead. We're spending the next three days walking the Keplar track and didn't want to risk packing up a wet tent first. Turned out to be a great decision as Bob looked after us very well, gave us a lift to the start and lent us both hats and me a stick for downhill bits. Supper with Alan, Jay and Zac and then to listen to an amazing guitarist in a bar. We're having such a good time!!!
