Mark And Jan's Tandem Tour Of New Zealand 2010
Day 27 Wellington to Picton 2km
Being generous. We probably cycled 1km either end. The ferry did the rest.
A large Car ferry chugged it's way from Windy Welly to Sunny Picton, through the scenic Cook Strait. Dolphins in their dozens swam alongside, welcoming us and bringing a smile to our faces.
So here we are, in the South Island. Sunny and very pretty. Have decided to walk Queen Charlotte Sound for a couple of days before getting back on the bike.
The backpackers in Picton is fantastic. Described as "flashpackers", not only do I have a comfortable bed, I have my own bathroom and kitchen. Much more like it. Have managed to get another day here on Monday after our walk...

lesley Hey you two.... great blog, thanks. Its still icy and partially here. My mate says "tell jan to bin the pies and look out for bluff oysters (in bluff) and lobster in kiakoura, not being biased but they're the best i've tasted in my life, bluff oysters are so voluptuous there more like a scallop! Oh and paua fritters - they must have those." Alls well here. Enjoy xx
