After a great night's sleep in our safari tent at Kooljaman, with the beautiful breeze, we made breakfast on the bbq: our neighbours (whom the kids had made friends with back at the Resort in Broome) were leaving, so they gave us their bacon. We used the camp toaster on the bbq and had boiled eggs and toad in the hole - yum.
We stopped by the cafe for coffee/hot chocolate, then drove up to the Cygnet Bay Pearl Farm where we joined the 90 minute tour at 11.30. It was very interesting learning about Australia's oldest operating pearl farm: understanding how the pearls are cultured, and also the grading of the end result. One of the pearls for sale was $25,000!! It's a really nice place to visit, and we had a great snack and some drinks for lunch - would recommend this place.
On our return to Kooljaman at Cape Leveque, we checked out Eastern Beach - there are lots of beach shelters that look great for camping - this is the swimming beach though the waves are pretty big. We then drove over to Western Beach where swimming isn't recommended - for good reason - it's lovely but very unprotected and lots of large rocks. Very picturesque and lovely at sunset.
Dad, Renee & Eamon went back to Eastern Beach for a swim in the afternoon, and ran into a family we'd met at the Bungle Bungles! Another breezy night on the balcony with a BBQ dinner ended our day. Once we turned the lights off, the beams from the lighthouse behind us (which is still in operation) were quite mesmerising to watch.
