We left around 10am today on our way west towards Exmouth, not sure of where we'd stop, but we wanted to see the NRL Grand Final between the Roosters and Manly scheduled to start at 4.15 this afternoon (WA time). The SatNav was pointing us back through Tom Price town, but Dad had seen another sign pointing to Nanutarra on the road where we were staying, so after getting petrol, we followed that one. 30kms later, we realised why, as we came across an unsealed road. Mum checked the camps7 book, and sure enough, there was 48kms of gravel road going to Nanutarra this way: we should have gone via Paraburdoo, which is longer, but all bitumen. So after finding a spot to turnaround a couple of kms down the gravel road, we traipsed back to Tom Price, got more petrol and headed to Nanutarra via Paraburdoo! The journey was over 355kms, and with a couple of stops in included, we didn't get to Nanutarra Roadhouse until about 4.45, so the game had already begun.
Renee and Mum were going for the Roosters, and Eamon & Dad were barracking for Manly. We sat in the dining area of the roadhouse with about 15 burly men, had a couple of beers and enjoyed a great game, with the Roosters ending up winners 26-18. Round the back was the caravan park, and it was very neat and tidy, much better option than freecamping. A fantastic lamb rack for dinner ended the day on a good note.
