After a quick game of putt putt golf at our Palm Grove Caravan Park, we were sad to say goodbye to Broome this morning after quite a long stay, but excited about our next destination, Eighty Mile Beach, en route to Port Hedland.
It was a long drive, so we stopped at Goldwire Rest Area for an early lunch and Sandfire Roadhouse for petrol. The last 10km was on a corrugated unsealed road, so it was slow going! Finally, we went over the last rise into a beautiful oasis - a very neat caravan park, and the aqua ocean in the background.
As soon the van was setup, we took off on a very long walk along the beach with our neighbours who had a nice yellow bird with them called Bob! Eighty Mile Beach is renowned for its unique shells, and it didn't disappoint, with Renee & Eamon picking up about 100 of them - not sure what they're going to do with them - will have to cull no doubt. Lots of people were walking and fishing in both directions. It is such a relaxing place, and if we had more time, it would be great to stay for a few days.
