We had lots to do today, but first up was breakfast. Then it was time to pack up and check out of the Resort, which has been fantastic - we would definitely come here again. The accommodation and facilities are great, as are the restaurants. We hooked up the van, and Dad drove it to Palm Grove Caravan Park, while Mum, Renee & Eamon rode the bikes there. It took a while to sort everything out, so we weren't on the road until about noon, and even then we had to go into town.
We tried the Post Office again, but system issues have not been resolved, so no mail for us. We shopped for the next couple of days - the shops/carpark is only a few hundred metres from the Broome Airport runway, and we got the shock of our lives when a Qantas plane came straight toward us, over our head and landed - the closest we've been to an aeroplane in flight!
Finally, we made our way to Cape Leveque. It's over 200km north of Broome, and half of that distance is on unsealed road, however, we were pleasantly surprised at the good quality of it - not too corrugated, and pretty comfortable most of the way.
We checked in around 4pm, and found our safari tent named Gidwann - wow it's fantastic! It's up high on the hill, and has a view to die for of the ocean - we're not sure what was splashing around in the water - maybe whales? In the tent there's a double bed, and 2 single beds. The balcony has a BBQ and wooden dining suite, and the back area is the kitchen and ensuite.
We had a great bbq dinner on our balcony and we loved the beautiful breeze coming through our tent during the night - magnificent!
