Day 48! By the time we got ready to go anywhere today it was pretty much the afternoon, and we went to a wee square which had really cool shops and cafés made out of reused shipping containers. Our hostel roommate had recommended we go there to try this ice cream shop called Smitten which makes each scoop there and then for you using liquid nitrogen. Pretty cool for us science geeks, and the salted caramel ice cream was so good. We were sitting eating our ice cream on a bench when a guy came along walking the cockatoo in the picture on a lead, and the bird jumped up on the bench to sit next to us. He kept saying 'hi Casper!' Too, he was a pretty cool bird! San Fran is crazy though. After this we walked to Dolores park where hundreds of people were sitting and enjoying the actual nice weather today, and we say there for a good couple of hours enjoying the sunshine! We went to a restaurant serving the 'best burrito in San Francisco' in Mission, and it was pretty good. Then we walked to Castro, the gay area, and had a drink. Saw some interesting sights when it got dark! We have walked for miles today, and tired from last night so didn't stay out too late. L x
