Little Kirsty Ventures to Pastures New
Monday.
Nice sleep in. Ran some errands and FINALLY got the accommodation on the mountain booked! Managed to get a cancellation, so we're all very happy about that. Georgie still couldn't confirm if she could go cause she's waiting to see the doctor tomorrow.
Headed to the Riding centre for a fab beach ride. Turns out the stable girl was with GAP Challenge (slightly diff organization to us) and had been doing TEFL in Sarawak for 6 months, then came up here to get some work experience at the stables for a further 2 months. We chatted to her throughout the ride, and it turned out that her boyfriend from Sarawak was staying at the stables too. They worked together at the teaching centre and he came up to Sabah with her. Was a bit taboo cause he's a local Sarawakian. Quite exciting.
I got put on a fab horse, even though he was a bit bitey, but poor Georgie was put on an ignorant beast. As soon as we hit the sand, Georgie also hit every branch coming! She hadn't ridden much before in the past and the stupid horse headed into every bush and tree possible. Poor G went face first into tree branches, which pulled her top up and cut her shoulder really badly.
Was so much fun cantering along the coast, think G was happy trotting though.
The locals did their best to spook the horses and there were viscous dogs barking at the horses feet- couldn't believe the horses didn't care.
But then one dude switched on his chainsaw just as we trotted up- arse, so obviously the horses went a bit mental. Poor G got bucked a bit. I was sure mine was gona take off, but I just pulled on him tight.
Wasa good ride- might go back to do the waterfall trail later.
Once back at KK, I gota LI take away, then headed back to the school to see Aman.
That night I gave Joyce a piano lesson- teaching her the poems I used to use to learn to read music.
We worked out the accompaniment to the song the choir are doing and it sounds pretty good.
Off to bed after that.
