Happiness Is The Road
Dave had asked us if we would like to help feed the animals today. We happily had said yes and were really looking forward to it. We went over to the house when we saw kangaroo after kangaroo boinging past us at half eight to get to the feeding area near Nugget the pony's enclosure. The kangaroos must have known it was feeding time as literally just after they had all boinged past Dave came out of the house with a big blue bucket. We got there just in time to see the feed being put into four trays and all the gorgeous roos chomping away on their breakfast. It was a wonderful sight to see and the best kangaroo experience I have had since feeding the roos on Kangaroo Island. Whilst the roos munched away we went with Dave to fill a wheelbarrow with hay from the shed. Some was left for the beautiful pony, Nugget, and the bulk of it was taken to the cute and completely hilarious alpacas. It was really great to watch them especially little Bomber who made a right old mess! Sam the dog was here too running around and doing his best to help out. He's a feisty little thing and took no nonsense from the alpacas. Then we went to check on the hens and the ducks and we came away with a couple of fresh eggs to have for our brekky. It was absolutely brilliant to help out this morning and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. After this we just hung around the caravan park and chilled out. Later on we saw all the animals again when we did our daily afternoon rounds. When we went round the front of the house we saw two kangaroos sat down and lazing on the grass in the sunshine. It was a gloriously sunny afternoon. These two kangaroos were really tame and were probably the ones that Helen had hand reared. They let us lie down next to them and stroke them and tickle them under the chin. They were wonderfully gentle and sweet and it was incredible to be able to do this. Whilst we were making our tea later Sam the dog came to join us in the camper van. He is one gorgeous doggy dog. It had been another fantastic day in paradise.
