Happiness Is The Road
We had another beautifully peaceful night. After brekky we drove back to D'Entrecasteaux National Park. There had been a few rain showers this morning and we hoped that they would clear as we planned to do some walks today. When we got down to the coast the sky looked less threatening and big patches of blue were appearing. We parked at Point D'Entrecasteaux and set out on the walk to Cathedral Rock, a three kilometre round trip. We saw rugged cliffs, white beaches and lots of flora and fauna. It's a wild pristine place and very awe inspiring. The path wound it's way near the cliffs through the most beautiful heathland. There were some gorgeous yellow, red and white flowers. The walk led us to some dramatic lookouts where we watched the wind blow across the Southern Ocean forming white crests in the waves. We walked the path happy with the wind blowing through our curly locks of hair. We stopped on the beach at Cathedral Rock for a while and then made our way back. A big black cloud was now looming above us and it suddenly let rip big globules of rain on us. We put on our ponchos and had a really good laugh at each other. No sooner though had the rain spat down on us it stopped and we removed our gloriously trendy ponchos and put them way until another day. When we got back to the camper van we had a spot of lunch and then we went on another walk. We followed the coastal path in the other direction to the Tookalup car park and back, another three kilometres or so. This was another great walk skirting the big jagged cliffs through the heathland and beautiful flowers. Once back at the camper van we drove to Salmon Beach, a big expanse of white sand surrounded by nature's rugged beauty. On the drive back to Northcliffe we saw loads of emus again in a field at the side of the road. Once again it was pandemonium for them as they erratically scurried off in a panic. No chance of being attacked by them. These were not emus of the Rod Hull variety! Once back at Aroundtu-It we went to see the animals. Sam the dog saw us and came running over all excited. Jay scooped him up into her arms and he stayed there for ages. We went to see the pony, Nugget, first. He was also excited to see us and came for some love. He really enjoyed all the fuss. After this we wandered over to the alpacas who looked at us like we were mad. They tolerated us whilst we admired them and told them that they were all gorgeous. They are absolutely fascinating animals. A few kangaroos hopped by later and completed another wonderful day. We had the site completely to ourselves again tonight which was wonderful. It was another peaceful night. Absolute bliss. This is the best caravan park that we have stayed at.
