Happiness Is The Road
When we woke up we decided to stay put at Aroundtu-It for a couple more days. It is such a great place and we thought we'd have a relaxing day amongst all the beautiful animals. When we emerged from the camper van the kangaroos were boinging about the place. I went up to the reception at the house to see Helen and Dave and extend our stay. When I got back to the camper van I said to Jay 'Two things, firstly, there's a sign on the verandah of the house saying that they're out and will be back around noon, secondly, an alpaca has escaped!'. I had seen the cute brown alpaca, Bomber, loose at the front of the house and the gate to his enclosure was open. We weren't sure if he was meant to be out and were worried that he might get on the road. With Helen and Dave being out we thought that we'd better try and get him back safely in his enclosure. Jay quickly put her thongs on and we found Bomber still mooching around near the house. Jay went slowly up behind him and I went round the side of him and we very successfully managed to direct him around and in to his enclosure. Luckily all the other alpacas were all accounted for as they were in separate enclosures to Bomber. As we finally shooed Bomber back behind the gate and shut it all the other alpacas were looking on in bewildered amazement . Bomber looked a bit disgruntled and it seemed like we'd caused a bit of a ruckus. All the alpacas were making humming noises to each other, looking at Bomber, then looking at us, then looking at each other and looked most perplexed. We appeared to have ruined Bomber's big day out and no one was happy about it. We scurried off back to the camper van and had brekky. When Helen came back just before noon we went over to the house to extend our stay and tell her what we'd done with Bomber. It turned out that we had ruined Bomber's enjoyment as Helen told us that she had let him out on purpose. She told us that he is allowed free run of the grounds some days and that he never strays far and always returns to the pack. Helen wasn't bothered though as we thought we had done the right thing. It was only Bomber that we'd ****** off! With our tails between our legs we went to say sorry to Bomber. All the alpacas looked at us accusingly but seemed to accept our apology. We then went to chill and relax for a few hours at the camper van enjoying the peace and tranquility of this most wonderful place. We had the site completely to ourselves again today which was bliss. Later on we went on our now daily rounds to see all the animals. Sam the dog escorted us around with his gorgeous little fluffy tail wagging. Sam is a shihtzu terrier cross and is so cute. We went to see Nugget the pony first. When he saw us he got really excited and came running over to the fence. We made a big fuss of him and gave him loads of love. After this we wandered over to see all the alpacas who eyed us up suspiciously. They are in different enclosures to keep the guys and the girls separate so they can't get up to any naughty business! Helen had told us that one of the guys not so long ago did breach the fence line with the result being the little white and grey alpaca called Sky. She is so extremely cute and is always cuddling up close to her mummy. Alpacas are such peaceful and beautiful animals and it's obvious that they love and care for each other. Whilst we were admiring the alpacas we saw loads of kangaroos chilling out in the bush and a giggling kookaburra came to sit on a branch right next to us. We are in paradise. We are just loving it at Aroundtu-It.
