Happiness Is The Road
We'd had a lovely quiet night to the sound of the breaking surf. After brekky we went for a walk along the beach. A very short path from the caravan park took us straight out onto the beach and the beautiful Flinders Bay with it's turquoise waters. We clambered over the rocks and made our way down to a couple of lookouts. We ended up sitting on a big rock looking out at the Southern Ocean. The sea was relatively calm here with us being in a bay but just a few kilometres away around the corner is Cape Leeuwin where the Southern Ocean meets the Indian Ocean and the sea is probably fierce. We're going there tomorrow and I'm hoping that it's just as dramatic as it was when I was last there. Whilst we were sat on the rock with our feet dangling over the edge there was a bit of a breeze building and the swell was getting a bit bigger causing the water to crash between the rocks. When we came to get down we turned round and Jay exclaimed, 'Where' have my thongs gone!'. The wind must have taken them whilst we were canoodling on the rock. One of them was half way down the rock but the other one was nowhere to be seen. We scrambled down the rock and saw the missing thong in a rock pool. I had to act quickly as the waves were blasting through the rock nearly taking Jay's pink thong away. I just managed to grab it in time. Phew, it was close! With all thongs accounted for we flip flopped back to the camper van. After a spot of lunch we headed into Augusta to have a mooch around and drove back alongside the river. Augusta is a lovely picturesque place. Once back at the caravan park we chilled out for the rest of the day.
