Seumas' mum has a friend just below the gold coast. She went to university with him and had kept in contact with him nice then but hadn't seen him for about 20 years. We had got in touch with him and were invited to a meal at his. We took a bottle of wine for them and parked the campervan down by the beach. We didn't really know what to expect as we hadn't ever met him but his family was so friendly and kind! We had a BBQ with some beers and stayed chatting for a while. They then asked us if we wanted to stay the night. This was so kind of them as we weren't really sure where we were going to stay. It was nice to have such comfy beds in such an amazing house. They had a lap swimming pool and an awesome view of the beach.
On our way out in the morning, we were given 2 loafs of bread as they had too much and their friend was giving them too much the whole time. This was just the best as we had just run out!
That day we decided to try and learn to surf by ourselves. The beach had a lot of rip current so we kept on having to get out and walk back to the start again. We weren't successful. We hired some boards but we probbably needed foam boards as we were still not good at all... It was worth trying though and boogie boarding with surfboards was fun!
