After a chilled breakfast and some very lovely showers, we called up one of Seumas' Dad's friends who lived in Cairns. We didn't really know much about him other than he works in tea someway but we felt that it would be good to meet up with him. His name is Ralph and he agreed to meet us for coffee in the next 30 mins! This meant we rushed off to go and see him in town. He very kindly payed for them and then we had a very lovely chat to him about what he does (design and make agricultural equipment) and when he worked in Findlays (where Seumas' dad works). Seumas did most of the talking as he knew what was what, and he is going to study agriculture at university, but it was very interesting to listen to. Ralph then gave us some very useful advice on where to go and what to do on our trip!
After saying our goodbyes we headed up to Daintree National park. Along the way we had to cross a river which was brilliant fun, trying to spot the crocodiles, then arriving at the campsite, in the rainforest just off a massive long stretch of beach. While we were washing up, an American girl came up to us and asked us to help her put up her spaceship caravan's canvas cover. It was a different design to us but we managed to do it in the end and also had a great chat to her about everything on our trip and hers as well.
The next day after a night of hearing animals rustling outside our tent we headed off into the national park. We went to an information center where there was a walkway but it cost way too much so we went on a free walk through the rainforest and over some streams. It was a really pleasant walk although it didn't take as long as expe ted and we didn't see any casowaries. From there we went off to port douglas.
