After spending the night in an amazing house, we decided to hit the road and go inland a bit rather than up the coast. We heard that Mt Warning is spectacular so we headed for a campsite to climb it the next day. Thi was an amazing drive though the mountains and forsest so close to the coast. It is really amazing to see the difference in such a short drive! The roads were really really windy and wallabys were crossing it every now and then so we had to watch out.
We arrived at the campsite to find a field with the mountains around and a simple shower. This was good enough for us. Another thing it had was shelter which came in real useful when it started to rain really really hard. This meant we could still cook a meal and put up the rear awning without any water getting in.
We woke up the next morning to a torrential downpoor. We decided to not climb the mountain when we saw the forecast for the rest of the day... We then decided to sleep in and watch some dvds as there wasn't anything we could do.
We decided to go to a different campsite nearer brisbane later in the evening as we were going to meet up with another Kenyan there for some drinks. I met him at new year with the Grants so it'll be good to see him again. We foind a beautiful (or was meant to be) lake to park next to for the night after some driving though some more amazing scenery and dirt roads. When we finally got there after goiing through some really slow roads, another storm hit. A warden drove up to us 3 mins after we arrived and suggested we might be more comfortable in the town nearby as the storm was going to get worse. We decided to stay the night because we thought we could handle it. We couldn't cook outside as there wasn't any place under shelter. We settled for wraps and tuna mayo made inside while watching some hobbit.
The following morning we woke up to it being sunny ish so we hung out our soaking clothes and towels to dry and had our breakfast. It's amazing how fast it takes to dry everything when the sun comes out! The lake is beautiful in the sun!
We then headed for Brisbane to find a Laundry then meet up with the Kenyan,
