Adele's grove is positioned just on Lawn hill creek and has some amazing swimming spots! We parked or car just by the river so we could just jump in whenever we felt like it! We then saw rope swings. We were very very happy at this! So much fun swinging in to the cool water. From the reception we bought some cheap handheld reels for fishing, hopefully to be used later on as well! We started a fire and headed off to an overhanging branch to try our hands at fishing. Seumas caught a catfish but he said i wouldn't be good to eat so we just settled for steak and chips. After sitting around the fire for a bit and talking, Seumas went cane toad hunting while I sellted down with a book next to the fire.
The next day we spent our entire day at the campsite relaxing and just enjoying it. There was a really beautiful walk down the creek and up to a look out but it wasn't too long.
We then went fishing again! This time we were prepared so we didn't go in the dark, but just before it so we could spend a long time there without mosquitos coming over to us. We managed to catch 2 fish each, but only kept 2 which were a decent size to cook! Seumas showed me how to cut it up, really great to learn while I got all the ingredients ready. We wrapped the fish in tin foil while putting lemon and coconut inside the fish while it's cooking. We then chucked them on the fire and waited. They were tasty but had a lot of bones in them! Quite a lot of effort for something so little.
The next day we left Adel's grove to try and get as far as we could in the light. Driving after dark in the northern territory area is dangerous because that's when kangaroos come out, and could very well cause accidents!
We headed off a different way, stopping off at a very interesting fossil site allong the way. Once I had driven for 2 hours, we reached a river. There was a crossing point but it wouldn't be worth the risk in our low car. This meant driving all the way back again, and up the road back to gregory downs, all on dirt!! After about 20 km on tarmac, we had to do another 100 km on even more dirt. This was very exciting driving as I had to be on constant alert, avoiding big stones and not letting the undercarrige get scraped by any gravel. So much dirt was coming in all of the cracks but it was either that or go an extra 300 km around it. It was such a relief to finally get on tarmac! When we got to our next campsite, just on the river outside a place called Camooweal, we had to do a massive clean inside the car as everything had a thick layer of dust on it. Everything. So annoying!!
