The weather for the last week has been a bit drizzly. Today was no exeption. We drove from Cardwell to Tully which was surrounded by thick misty cloud and rain. Tully is situated at the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and is quite pretty. Unfortunately we didnt stay because of the weather so we drove on through a lovely little place called Silkwood. Loved this little town also in the Range with clouds and heavy mist all round.
We were looking for a particular place, a free camp, and somehow ended up back at Paronella Park which we visited last trip in 2010. Only this time the Mena Creek Falls were really flowing. It was lovely to see. We stopped for lunch on the other side of Paronella Park as we decided we wouldnt do the tour again. We took some great photos though looking across the swing bridge that leads to the castle.
Onward and upward, we head to Innisfail only to find they also are experiencing rain rain and more rain. We parked at the Wharf where Al decided to buy some chips from a fish and chip van. We walked the area and took photos, Allen actually found a boat half sunk which turned out to be an illegal fishing boat bought in by the authorities.
Anyway, nothing of interest here so we move on to our night camp at Babinda, about 25kms north of Innisfail. And as we arrive, you guessed it, rain rain and more rain. Oh well, we are settled in for the night, safe and sound in the caravan, and off the road which is dangerous in this wet weather. This spot is right alongside the Johnson River - which would be great for fishing or yabbyin if the weather was more agreeable.
