Day 10 - 20 Dec 2019
We had yogurt with granola for breakfast in the hotel room. I went downstairs to the lobby to make myself a cup of latte but apparently, the machine had run out of coffee beans. Thus, I had got chocolate instead.
Our first stop was The British Museum. We took the tube from Gloucester Road to Holborn and then walked a couple of minutes to our destination. It was free admission, funded probably by donations from visitors and the government. There was just ton of things to see and read about from human history beginning from the Rosetta Stone to mummies, Egyptian sculptures and various Roman artefacts. We left The British Museum close to about 1pm plus.
We then took the tube to Queensway station and walked to somewhere near Bayswater for our lunch at Gold Mine Restaurant. We had roasted duck, dim sums, congee, soup etc.. The funny thing was we were ordering away until the waiter had to stop us from continuing lest we over-ordered. The bigger kids didn’t had enough and ordered some more rice and soup. Overall, the lunch was awesome.
After lunch, we took a walk to Kensington Gardens where Princess Diana Memorial Playground was located. The kids went crazy at the sight of the playground. I was having headache, probably due to either lack of rest or last night’s wrong sleeping position. It was chilly and wet and a cup of coffee was perfectly apt to combat the cold.
Our initial plan was to go to the Science Museum after the kids had enjoyed themselves at the Princess Diana Memorial Playground. However, we were feeling a little tired and decided to head back to the hotel and get some rest. I took the chance to take a nap and after the nap, I took a shower and drank a cup of hot tea (thanks to my wife who prepared it for me). Somehow, I just felt better after that.
Dinner was at Sarracino, an Italian Restaurant. It was together with Raff and Sue Anne (and their little baby girl who was sleeping). After dinner, we adjourned to their cosy home for dessert; well, in fact, for an early birthday celebration for my wife. We chit-chatted until about 9pm.
We got back about close to 10pm. Got the kids ready for bed and then rested for the night.
