Day 11 - 17 Nov 14 - Glasgow
445am. By far, the earliest that we woke up during this trip. On the wet and rainy day before the sun rose, we packed all our luggages into the car and set off for our destination, Glasgow, at 645am.
Emma drove and Peiks navigated. I was at the back watching the boys. Thankfully, Yu slept mostly throughout the journey but of course, he woke up occasionally when it was time for feed. Milk was already expressed beforehand and I simply just poured them in the bottle to feed him. At times when we stopped for toilet break, Emma would also take the chance to nurse him.
Le was easy too and he was nice not to unnecessarily kick up a fuss over the long and weary journey. That made the drive a very pleasant one. Thank God for him. He, like Yu, slept mostly throughout except for the few times where he ate his food, sang his limited repertoire of songs and looked out of the car window to admire the beautiful scenery.
We did our pitstop at close to 1pm. We had a quick lunch and continued our journey about an hour later.
Finally, at 4pm after 9 over hours, we arrived at Glasgow Pacific Quay (Premier Inn). The sky was still somewhat bright when we checked in. However, at 5pm, the time that we met at the lobby, it became dark. Well, we missed the opportunity to admire the charm of this city but we easily compensated it by having a really sumptuous dinner at Ubiquitous Chip restaurant, a wonderful find by Denise.
It was special because it was an advanced birthday celebration surprise for Francis and Jocelyn. The ambience was welcoming; it just gave us the mood to enjoy a wonderful dinner. The pan-fried Pentland pheasant breast that I had was second to none. I had my first glass of whisky too. How appropriate to consume it in the land of Scotland.
While we were settling the bill, Denise discovered that she had lost her wallet. We tried to search the car that she was in and the carpark where she might have accidentally dropped it but to no avail. I pray that somehow, she'd be able to locate it.
We came back to the hotel at about 9pm plus and rested for the night after both the boys had slept. Hope that tomorrow, we'd be able to catch a glimpse of Glasgow while en route to Inverness.
