Day 1 - 7 Nov 14 - London It was a full day of travelling and commuting.
We started the day at 5am plus, got ready ourselves and the kids and then left for airport at about 630am.
At the airport, we met up Denise and Peiks. Had a quick bite before we boarded the plane.
The plane ride was 14 hours. Thankful for the in-between meals and snacks that made the journey less boring (Yes, it wasn't the in-flight entertainment that got me entertained). Throughout the flight, I handled the younger one while Emma took the older one. The younger one was pretty cooperative during the first few hours. What I meant was when he slept, I managed to catch my rest too. However, for the remaining hours, he was blissfully sleeping in my arms but when I tried to gingerly take my seat, he would begin to fidget, which made me having to repeat the entire cycle of patting him and humming to the tune of "Jesus loves me". When the plane eventually landed at about 3pm plus London time (Singapore time was 11pm plus), I could feel my body trying to combat tiredness but I wasn't alone, the rest of them were equally exhausted.
After clearing the custom and having collected our luggages, we met a guy who told us the fastest way to our hotel - Premier Inn near King's Cross St Pancras. He recommended that we get to our hotel via Heathrow Express. First, the train would take us to Paddington but from Paddington, we would need to take a taxi to our hotel. The cost of the two-way train ride cost us £34 each (Heathrow-Paddington-Heathrow). The taxi ride cost us £13. According to him, the total journey would take us only slightly more than half hour which could have been otherwise longer had we taken the tube. We were all unassuming and thus heeded his advice. Well, I guess all we were thinking of was to get to the hotel as soon as possible before our bodies could no longer hold up.
After we checked in, we had dinner at the hotel's restaurant. It was a "have-to-eat-cos-it's-dinner-time" kind of feel when it was obvious that we were all very tired. But I must say that the food was pretty yummy and very economically priced - an order of either a starter and main or a main and dessert, would entitle us to a free drink and a free breakfast for the following day; all at a price of £23 per person. How cool is that! After dinner, we went back to our respective rooms.
Looking forward to great fun from day 2 onwards.....
