Day 11 - 21 Dec 2019
We walked past the Imperial College London, my brother-in-law’s alma mater, en route to the Science Museum. We also passed by the apartment where he used to stay. Stopped to take some photos and I’m sure it must have evoked some fond memories of the time that he used to spend his university years.
Science Museum is indeed a fascinating place. We spent the longest time in the Wonderlab (the Equinor Gallery) where the kids learnt about lightening, electricity, force, matters etc.. The rocket show was mind-blowing. There were also friction slides where the kids were supposed to learn about friction but it was just slides to them.
We had lunch, back at Gold Mine restaurant. It was so good that we had to revisit the restaurant after we’ve had a wonderful experience the day before. Coincidentally, we sat at the same table as yesterday. Even the waiter found us uncannily familiar. Haha.
After our sumptuous lunch, we headed to Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park. It was so full of people. The queue at the Ferris Wheel was pretty long; the sky was still slightly dusky when we were queuing and by the time we were up the Ferris Wheel, it was dark. After we got down from the Ferris Wheel, while we hoped to enjoy the festive mood at the Hyde Park (and the kids hoped to explore more rides), we reckoned it would be better to leave as we had a musical to catch.
We had KFC for dinner. Then, it was off to Peacock Theatre to catch The Snowman. It was a pantomime. It was about a story of a young boy who made a snowman and it “came to life” to have an adventure with the boy. Ultimately, morning came and it melted. The dance and the music was great. I particularly loved the part where the Snowman danced with the Princess.
After the show, we went back to the hotel. What an eventful day!
