Day 5: 23 Nov 13 - Hong Kong
Today was a totally free and easy day with no specific place of attractions in mind. We first set off to Hong Kong Island via the ferry ride of about 20 minutes. Then, we had our late Dim Sum breakfast at New Star restaurant. It was quintessential Hong Kong style.
As a person who is "direction-challenged", I can't even recall where were the exact locations that we had traversed today. In my vague recollection, we took a tram to somewhere near Causeway bay and walked around 中环 area. We also went to Mid-Levels, a well known area which had numerous escalators. Going up was an ease with escalators; however, going down by stairs would be exhausting, considering that we were carrying a stroller. My wife, mum-in-law and I took a cab and reunited with the rest near 中环中心.
We also went to IFC mall. As some of us felt a little hungry, we went to "Tasty Congee & Noodle Shop" and had congee and wan tan noodle. It was very tasty and to top it off, I had a cup of hot latte.
After this, it was a crazy, leg-breaking walk of god-knows-how-many kilometres. All I could say was we walked from IFC mall to Wan Chai which took us almost an hour. We had our dinner at Harbour Chiu Chow restaurant which served Teochew cuisine and this restaurant was located very near New Star restaurant which we patronized this morning.
After dinner, we took a ferry back to Kowloon and on the way back to the hotel, I packed a bowl of mango pomelo to savour in the comfort of the hotel room. That is it, Hong Kong. I felt that we had covered most parts of the nice-places-to-see in Hong Kong on account of the fact that we were travelling mostly by foot.
Five days passed so quickly. It is always as such: When one is enjoying oneself, time just seem to slip by so quickly. I am thankful to God for making this trip happened. It was a good break for my family and a great way of spending time with my in-laws, nephews and niece.
Good bye Hong Kong!
