FIGJAM'S CAPE YORK ADVENTURE
Did the bus tour of the Rio-Tinto Bauxite Mine in the morning. I got to see some very large machinery up close! The operation is both efficient & simple helped no doubt by bauxite being the easiest & cheapest mineral to mine - about $45 per tonne.
Did some shopping & washing in the afternoon. An absolute beauty of a sunset sent us scurrying for cameras.
Decided to leave Weipa tomorrow & head to Chilli Beach on the east coast. It's about 300km's with almost half likely to be slow going. May need to bush camp along the way.
It's official - Telstra is the ONLY service provider on the Cape York Peninsula!
Highlight today was the impressive sunset.
