Was up & on the track early. Had about 40km to Cape Trib. Crossed the Donovan Range in mostly LL but without any stress. Cape Trib is not recognizable from 15 years ago & not all change is good. I imagine the Greenies who fought against the Bloomfield Track are still tearing their hair out!
Checked out the beaches - Cape Trib, Myall, Thornton & Cow. At Cow Beach I set my table & chair on the sand & shelled & ate half a kilo of prawns topped with 1000 Island sauce! Had quite an audience but ignored them!
It's school holidays here now & camping is getting harder. Checked a number of beaches but were either full or ridiculously expensive. Decided to head inland to Mareeba thus bypassing Cairns & found a rest area on the Barron River which was fine by me.
Highlight was the second half of the Bloomfield Track.
