Our final day of the tour so it was going to be a sad day. But we would embrace it & make the most of it. Our day started with a continental breakfast (won't miss them) before we headed off from the hotel for a bike ride through the Dutch countryside. We started off a little chilly but that soon changed after riding for a little way. The sun was shining as 40 of us blasted along the bike paths, past canals, beautiful green fields & a windmill. After a few hours we parked our bikes when we arrived in Edam. We had a little wander through the town to meet Phil & hop back on to the bus to be taken for a cheese & clog making demonstration. We all got to try on clogs, which are really as uncomfortable as they look, & eat lots of cheese. We then had photos with a pig and a giant clog (not really everyday that you get to say that sentence). It was then back to the hotel for the first sad part of the day. We said goodbye to our awesome new friends Aussie Jack & Yankee Janet. The group was going to go their separate ways today & these were the first. It was sad to say our goodbyes but we couldn't wait cause we had a ferry to catch. So it was off again down the highway, this time with a quieter bus without Janet. A few hours later & we arrived at Bruges for a quick stop to drop off our other amazing American friends Chandler & Betsy. The mood was even lower as we said quick goodbyes but we couldn't hang around, we had a ferry to catch. So once again we were off. This is when we knew it was the home stretch. Everyone was exhausted & passed out on the coach, including me. We were woken as we entered Calais and headed to the port. As we arrived at customs we knew we were in trouble. 3 coaches ahead & only 20 mins to get on the ferry. It just wasn't going to happen & we mentally waved the ferry goodbye. As a result we had 2 hours to wait for the next boat. Once it arrived we boarded and headed upstairs. Jac, Kez, Deano & I found some recliners but decided to forego sleep & head for a feed. We ate the first veges for a long time before heading back to the recliners to relax for the last part of the journey. Eventually the white cliffs came into view so we headed for the exits. There we ran into the Malaysians & proceeded to have plenty of snaps taken with them. Then in was on the coach for our final trip together back to London. Once again sleep took over all of us until we arrived back in the city at 10pm, & then it was the saddest part of all. We said our goodbyes to most of the others who dispersed pretty quickly, leaving the most important few until last. Phil our brilliant driver, Tim the most amazing tour leader & Deano our excellent UK friend. The final goodbye was saved for our favourite tour buddy, roomate & just allround awesome friend Kez. We have shared 16 unbelievable days with all these amazing people & shared in amazing experiences. We have all shared this moment in our lives together & will have memories of this that last a lifetime. Awesome experiences with awesome friends in awesome places. That just about sums it up. After our sad goodbyes Jac & I made our way a few stops to Whitechapel where we met our family. Our travels move on as we continue the adventures with Jacs parents. It will be nice to spend some time with loved ones. It will also be great to slow down a little now & be in one place for a few weeks.
