We have a few miles to cover today so we feasted this morning and got under way. We have tried to avoid the motorways but today decided to cruise along one to make got time. Not the most exciting drive so after a while we exited to the town of Moffat and had a wander through the town followed by some cake & coffee. We decided to avoid the motorway as soon as possible so headed to Lockerbie where we exited and made our way across to Langholm. The village was beautiful and we noticed a stream beside a park so pulled in for a break. When we got out of the car we had over a hundred wild ducks make their way towards us quacking like crazy. We knew we had to head in to town to grab some bread and head back to the park. Well to say we were mobbed is an understatement. They came waddling over and surrounded us, standing on our feet and tripping over each other in their manic rush for the bread. So focused on the bread we could pat them and I even picked a few up. It's funny how the simple things often bring the most pleasure. With our bread supplies exhausted we pushed on for a drive through Carlisle and on to Birdoswald to see Hadrian's Wall and an ancient roman fort. One thing about the Romans is they knew how to build things to last. From there it was on to our stop at Haltwhistle for dinner and a relaxing night in our B&B before a long drive tomorrow.
