Another one night stop so it was the routine of packing the bus, having breakfast and then we were off again. This time it was a nice short trip of only a few hours before we arrived in Hungary and made our way to Budapest. The sun & warmth has returned to our trip which just adds to the experience. Heading in to the city we noticed how big the houses were. Actually we found from our time here that all the buildings are huge. For our first stop we headed up to the citadel that overlooks Budapest. This gave is an opportunity to see just how vast the city was. Once again we noted how big their buildings were. After a few photos it was down into the city for lunch. Jac, Kez & I sat on the banks of the mighty Danube river eating rolls we had taken from breakfast. We try to do this as often as possible to save one meal a day. After lunch we were taken on a driving tour of Budapest and shown all the great sights with a local guide. We couldn't have done a walking tour as a result of the city being so spread out. It is actually two separate cities that have been joined together, Buda and Pest (pronounced Pesht!). After the tour we were taken to our Ibis hotel to enjoy a bit of comfort. Jac & I have our own room and it is the best of the tour so far. We relaxed for an hour or so then headed back in to the city. Here we met up with Kez & Deano for a cocktail then ran across a bridge to catch the last river cruise of the evening. The hour long trip was accompanied by champagne and a guided commentary to the city. By day or night this may just be the most beautiful city in Europe. We seem to say that about a lot of cities but I think this may have trumped them all, it really is that spectacular. After the trip it was back on their dirty metro and home to the hotel. This is the last of our one night stops which we are thankful for. Tomorrow it is on to the Czech Republic and the beautiful Prague for good food & cheap beer. 2 nights will give us a great chance to explore too.
