Retired & Traveling
Marcy and I arrived in Paris a little later than originally planned but everything went very smoothly. We managed to get through customs and find the Super Shuttle, which thought we were no-shows! However, we ended up having a very nice Mercedes SUV all to ourselves, so I guess it worked out well in the end and we arrived at my friend, Blair's, apartment without any issues.
She was waiting outside of her apartment building and once inside, greeted us with freshly made coffee and croissants YUM!! which were definitely a treat for us. We had both managed to sleep a tiny bit on the plane in spite of a crying baby and some people talking very loudly behind us, so we were raring to go.
After freshening up a bit, we took off for a lovely true Parisian cafe for a delicious lunch. I seem to remember having quiche and a salad although the jet lag was hitting me a little bit at that time. We then walked to the Seine River where there are a lot of famous sights to see--The Louvre, The Eiffel Tower & a lot of the government buildings. Marcy was going a little nuts snapping pictures. :))
After a trip to a very large department store, (Blair wanted to purchase an artificial Christmas tree for her apartment) we headed back to Blair's to fetch our suitcases. A cab took us across town and by this time it was very dark and all the Christmas lights were sparkling everywhere we looked! It was really amazing and absolutely beautiful.
Jeanne was waiting for us outside her apartment and after a tour of the place, we went to a wonderful French restaurant and then came back to the apt. where we stuffed ourselves with some of the delicious pastries Jeanne had made. It's been a long but great first day in Paris!
